Lemon and Rose

This is one of my favorite color combinations to wear, but I have no idea why:

It doesnt seem like rose and lemon would pair well together, and, for all I know, they dont.  But, I like them together and I like wearing them together.  At least I think I do.  I do have to admit, however, that as Im nearing the end of my Nosh Opping expedition, I may be putting together some ridiculous combinations just so I get everything worn and can shop again.

I dont think thats the case today, but it very well could be.  Whatever the reason, I paired a rose-colored skirt (thrifted) with a lemon yellow blouse (Old Navy).  I added a thin black belt (Steve Madden via Ross) and my previously orphaned ankle-strap flats (Hive & Honey Yvonna via Piperlime).  I think I probably could have added a black statement necklace except that I dont have a black statement necklace because I dont really wear statement necklaces.  Except that Ive decided maybe I do which I guess means Ill need to buy one for next time.

Future shopping plans aside, I do like this outfit and Im definitely keeping both of these pieces.

And thats it for me.  Its been a long, exhausting week, but it should be a good weekend.  Tomorrow Im going to the Jazz Festival in Cathedral Park and if her voice is healed, Ill be watching Florence + the Machine at Edgefield.  Im especially excited for both of these events because the combination of venue and music should be spectacular.

Have a wonderful weekend, Everyone!

Pattern and Texture

This is an outfit that I wish had photographed a little bit better because it gets its interest not from color, but from pattern and texture:

Really, the only color Im wearing is the rose-colored skirt (thrifted and taken up).  Otherwise, the outfit is just shades of black, gray and cream.  But, there are stripes on the sweater-blazer (Halogen via Nordstrom) and polka dots on the tights (Target).  And there are different textures with the skirt, the blazer, the lace top (Limited) and the leather boots (Gap).  I think all of the different textures, along with the mix of patterns, make the outfit deceptively complex.  At the same time though, its a pretty easy outfit, which is nice for a Monday.

Again, its one that I really liked and I just wish the photographs showed it better.

Happy Monday, All!

P.S. For you Walking Dead watchers, I think The Violet Reactions comment in my last post is absolutely correct.  Then again, I havent seen last nights show yet
