Silk is Totally Professional

I am basically wearing shorts and a tee shirt at work:

But, its okay, because the tee is silk and silk is totally professional.  I paired the super professional silk tee (one of the six or so I thrifted) with patterned shorts (Target) and added a polka dot belt (Nordstrom Rack), Seychelles mini-wedges and a bib necklace (c/o Maurices).

Why did I wear shorts and a tee to work?  Because its getting stupid hot here in Oregon.   Today is supposed to be 91 and its supposed to hit 100 this weekend.  I know that is nothing to those of you whove been dealing with rolling heat waves all summer, but it doesnt usually get that hot here.

Luckily, I like the heat so Ill be spending this afternoon and evening at another 80s concert.  And tomorrow, I will return to my beloved thrift stores to pillage and plunderdo some shopping.  I need to find a dress for a wedding next Friday.  I think its in a field?  Or a barn?  Or a barn in a field?  Im not exactly sure where it is, but Im pretty sure I need something new to attend.

Have a wonderful weekend, Dearest Reader Friends!

Just Because Im a Blogger

Going through my closet I realized that there are a few items that Ive purchased just because Im a blogger.  Like these loafers:

Last year, loafers were one of the trends that seemed to be catching fire throughout the blog-o-sphere.  As a blogger I felt compelled to try them because I thought that surely My Adoring Public (thats you) would want to see all the latest trends on Their Favorite Blogger (um, thats me).  And, while that may be, I think we may all have to come to terms with the fact that Im not very trendy.  But... I am tall and sarcastic, so thats something, right?  Right.

Today I paired that height and sarcasm with the aforementioned loafers (thrifted), gray shorts (New York & Co via Ross) and a sherbet-hued cotton sweater (thrifted).  I also added a watch, a couple of bracelets and some cameo earrings.  I find it an amusingly preppy look which is different for me but still kind of fun.

That being said, I dont think that Im going to keep the loafers.  I dont ever wear them and I already have oxford flats that fill the menswear-inspired-shoes-that-I-never-wear gap in my closet.  I do want to keep a pair of androgynous shoes, in case I have a Victor/Victoria moment, but I think Ill keep my oxfords instead of these.

The sweater and shorts are keepers for sure though.

Happy Wednesday, All!
